I've looked high and low, i've been from shore to shore to shore, yet still can't find much on this wonderfully soothing song. Please chime in and give any info you can on it (stories behind its writing, recording sessions, musicians present, etc.). Thanks, 8) the jammer Title: Re: Deirdre Post by: Andrew G. That baby bit, don't you mean 'Tears In The Morning' Andrew? Title: Re: Deirdre Post by: c-man on August 20, 2010, 04:27:43 AM Musicians on the basic track:
Larry Knechtel (keyboard) Ed Carter and Al Casey (guitars...probably 12-string acoustics, from the sound of things) Bass guitar: Joe Osborn Upright bass: Jimmy Bond Vibraphone: Daryl Dragon Drums: John Guerin Percussion: Frank Capp and probably Bruce Johnston (piano) The horn section probably consisted of: Trumpets: Steve Huffsteter, Marion Childers, Gary Barone, and Chuck Findley French horns: Arthur Maebe and David Duke Trombones: Randall Aldcroft, Bob Edmondson, and Michael Barone There's also some alto flutes in there, but those players are unknown. That baby bit, don't you mean 'Tears In The Morning' Andrew? I do... geez, maybe I should give this lark a rest for a few years. Getting sloppy in my dotage. Thanks for catching that one. Title: Re: Deirdre Post by: punkinhead on August 20, 2010, 07:49:41 AM Speaking of Deirdre, I never noticed how much We're Together Again and Deirdre sound alike...Did Bruce take part of the tune for it or since Brian wrote part of it, that was the part he wrote? or did he just help write the lyrics?
Title: Re: Deirdre Post by: Mike's Beard on August 20, 2010, 10:14:28 AM Bruce threw out Brian's lyric contributions due to them being terrible. "His name is Bob and he has a job" was a line Brian suggested apparently.
If I had to hazard a guess I'd say Brian did the vocal arrangemet. The rest is pure Bruce cheese. I'd consider Deirdre to be a highlight on a record full of highlights. Title: Re: Deirdre Post by: rogerlancelot on August 20, 2010, 10:49:11 AM I've noticed with headphones that the backing track is in mono. That means all of the instruments were probably mixed down to one track before vocals were added. Sounds like the work of one BDW, doesn't it?

You're right! I never noticed the similarity. Title: Re: Deirdre Post by: curth on August 20, 2010, 06:25:20 PM Deirdre also sounds an awful lot like The Joker Went Wild by Brian Hyland too.
Title: Re: Deirdre Post by: MBE on August 20, 2010, 07:21:20 PM I think Brian wrote the lines he sings lead on.
