Title: Spector film on Brian Post by: Ed Roach on August 19, 2010, 09:23:50 AM Director Vikram Jayanti lets a pre-incarcerated Spector do the talking in a new documentary. The record producer's anecdotes fascinate while his more personal musings haunt.
http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-et-philspector-20100819,0,5906409.story When he is not being unhappy, Spector takes his accomplishments quite seriously, comparing himself in the course of the film to Bach, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Galileo. When he says of his prime, "I was so brazen in those days, I could strut sitting down," no one will be moved to argue the point. Not surprisingly, talking about music is what Spector does best. It's fascinating to hear his thoughts on Tina Turner, to have him compare his celebrated "wall of sound" with the work of Brian Wilson and to listen to his version of how he saved the Beatles' "Let It Be" album. I saw a copy on the dl and if I remember correctly his comments on Brian basically amounted to dismissing Good Vibrations as a "cut and paste job" or some other such nonsense. Oh, Phil...

Harvey's gotta big mouth but he's at least talented enough to warrant it in most instances (this not being one of those).
