Title: SMiLE + Smiley-era Artwork
Post by: willy on August 19, 2010, 07:38:54 AM
Anyone know who drew the Heroes and Villains 45 cartoon sleeve art? Was it Frank Holmes? Did Frank also do the SMiLE title lettering or was it Capitol's design dept?

Also who painted the Smiley Smile cover art? Was the same artist responsible for the SS title lettering also, which may be the same guy who did the lettering for the 'Gettin' Hungry' promo art?

Just curious.

The only one of those I can answer is that the Smile lettering was done by Capitol's art department. he said so in an interview some years back (? ESQ). The others... no idea, sorry.

I notice that the cartoon H&V 45 sleeve has the signature 'Green'.

Wonder who he might be, a comic book artist/illustrator from LA at that time? Well yes but a staff member of Capitol?
