Title: The Beatles "Love" album Post by: rab2591 on July 26, 2010, 01:35:00 PM A few weeks ago I bought and listened to the Beatles "Love" album and was completely blown away by it. The audio was perfectly mixed and the 'remixes' were superb.
I was wondering if anyone else here had listened to it and if so, what they thought of it... (also, is it just me or is the media paying more attention to the Beach Boys 50th anniversary over the Beatles 50th? - I've been reading/hearing about Beach Boys tours and albums on the news, but haven't heard a peep about the Beatles - and I do believe their 50th anniversary is next month!) And take it from someone who saw the show twice: it all makes perfect sense and is indeed freakin' brilliant! (And the sound ain't bad, either, as you noted. :) )
2) Thing is, though...what do you consider The Beatles' 50th anniversary?? Would it be the first time that George, John, and Paul got together in the group? That would have been around 1958-ish. Do you consider the 50th to be when they first used some kind of variation of the word "beetles"? That would have been prolly around 1960...First professional recording session? 1961. Ringo joining? 1962. Ditto first singles....but with the Beach Boys, it's pretty clear-cut: they recorded their first single and had a hit with it in 1961. A local hit, but a hit nonetheless (and a single that actually placed on Billboard as well). On the 50th...er, it was something I read on google....looking further into it, the August 2010 '50th' is just the anniversary of the name 'Beatles'....I suppose the definitive anniversary of their first hit single will commemorate it (in about two years). Back to the Love album, I find it to be absolutely brilliant....anyone think the Beach Boys would do a similar kind of album? Title: Re: The Beatles \ Post by: richardsnow on August 14, 2010, 04:50:30 PM i thought Love was great too, especially the straight re-mixes.
I would have liked them to use re-mixes on the latest CD re-issues. each album should have remixed stereo followed by the original stereo mix. |
