Title: Re; the Guest Stars on Postcard From California
Post by: Tony S on July 06, 2010, 08:59:44 AM
I was just wondering; did the guests like Neil Young, America, David Crosby get paid by Al for their contributions, or did they do it Gratis out of friendship? Just curious, because I think it will be hard to pay them a portion of the after sale profit, since it may not sell alot. Seems like Al has alot of friends in the industry who were happy to contribute their time and talent. I was just curious, beacuse I would really like to see another CD of new material come from Al, and I would hate to see it deterred due to $.

Great job Al, by the way!

I'm sure these were done out of friendship.  No one (including Al) would expect Al to make a mint on this album.

Even Alec Baldwin did it for free?! Each subsequent Jardine solo record needs to have a guest spot from a different Baldwin brother.

Suspect we only have this album now because we've rattled on about it. I'm sure Al would haev rather held on for a deal but chose instead to sate the fans' thirst for the material. I doubt he'll make very much on it at all if he even breaks even. I read it as A Gift From California.

He was offered a deal by a major label in 2008, and passed.

Do you know which label, and why he passed?
