Title: Song Titles Stolen By Other Artists Post by: Don_Zabu on July 03, 2010, 11:35:07 PM For some reason, people seem to like taking the titles of famous Beach Boys tunes and putting them on their own half-baked songs.
So far, I've got "Good Vibrations" by Marky Mark and "California Gurls" by Katy Perry. Anyone else in on this sordid business? Title: Re: Song Titles Stolen By Other Artists Post by: Wirestone on July 04, 2010, 01:14:31 AM The Magnetic Fields have a "California Girls" of their own.
Title: Re: Song Titles Stolen By Other Artists Post by: The Heartical Don on July 04, 2010, 02:43:49 AM Agree. 'Wouldn't It Be Nice To Live Again' is a sh*t form of plagiarism. The guilty party should be sued.

"Here Today" by Paul McCartney "Little Bird" by Majestic "Wonderful" by Majestic "All I Wanna Do" by Sheryl Crow (ugghh sorry) "Wind Of Change" by Scorpions (not quite the same title, but pretty close) Title: Re: Song Titles Stolen By Other Artists Post by: runnersdialzero on July 05, 2010, 01:45:02 AM "Here Today Gone Tomorrow" by the Ramones (likely an intentional nod, given that they were Beach Boys fans)
And not exactly title lifting, but a reference - I know a song entitled "Close Your Eyes and Be Still". Phrases like "little bird" etc. have been around long before the Beach Boys.

However, Majestic are very BB-influenced, and they have 2 "stolen" titles on one album (Wonderful and Little Bird). I don't think that it was coincidental in this case.Title: Re: Song Titles Stolen By Other Artists Post by: runnersdialzero on July 05, 2010, 11:50:00 PM I doubt many of these were genuinely "stolen". I love this song, I think it is a better song than the Beach Boys' Lana Title: Re: Song Titles Stolen By Other Artists Post by: joe_blow on July 12, 2010, 01:14:16 PM The Charlatans:
Forever Feel Flows They also have used a lot of Beach Boys references; one that comes to mind is the song The Blind Stagger which used the same musical chorus as Rainbows. Title: Re: Song Titles Stolen By Other Artists Post by: Magic Transistor Radio on July 13, 2010, 07:56:53 AM 'Breakaway' - Kelly Clarkson

Title: Re: Song Titles Stolen By Other Artists Post by: Summertime Blooz on May 19, 2012, 08:47:34 AM Not song titles, but Saint Etienne put out a CD entitled 'So Tough'. If there was any doubt that the title was a direct homage to the Beach Boys, there was also a deluxe edition of the CD that included a companion disc entitled 'You Need A Mess Of Help To Stand Alone'. Apples In Stereo put out 'Heroes & Villains: Music Inspired By The Powerpuff Girls'.
Song titles re-purposed: Cornelius- God Only Knows (Fantasma CD) Pizzicato Five- Let's Go Away For Awhile (Pizzicatomania CD) Title: Re: Song Titles Stolen By Other Artists Post by: I. If there was any doubt that the title was a direct homage to the Beach Boys, there was also a deluxe edition of the CD that included a companion disc entitled 'You Need A Mess Of Help To Stand Alone'. And they had another CD entitled Good Humor, a fine Beach Boys reference. Title: Re: Song Titles Stolen By Other Artists Post by: SamMcK on May 19, 2012, 09:09:34 AM I think The Kinks did a song called 'Do It Again' in the 80's.
