Title: No new Beach Boys archival CD product this year? Post by: PhilCohen on June 27, 2010, 03:27:29 PM Usually, without fail, Capitol releases a new Beach Boys CD compilation each summer, with some rarities or remixes for the fans, courtesy of Mark Linett, but it appears we are getting nothing this year. I wonder if it is because of the widely reported financial difficulties at Capitol's parent company EMI.

If a new compilation comprised 'Surfin USA' 14 times followed by 'Wouldn't It Be Nice To Live Again' as the bonus track, I'd buy it.Title: Re: No new Beach Boys archival CD product this year? Post by: PhilCohen on June 29, 2010, 02:56:04 PM If there is one thing we dont need its another BB comp, there are 400 or so already! But, when a BB comp is mixed and mastered by Mark Linett, we get outtakes and/or first time in stereo, so the comps are not pointless. At last report, Linett was researching unreleased early 1970's Beach Boys audio & video concert recordings for a possible project, and digging deeper into "Smile" research. Nothing came of either effort. Title: Re: No new Beach Boys archival CD product this year? Post by: hypehat on June 29, 2010, 02:57:34 PM ....yet.

Post by: Pretty Funky on July 05, 2010, 03:34:30 AM Someone can correct me but my quick check shows no compilation album on those years Brian releases a solo for quite a few years.
The exceptions are 2002 with the Classics chosen by Brian, and 2005 with the Platimum collection for Summer then Brians album for Christmas. Its almost odd years for the Beach Boys, Evens for Brian. ;D Beach Boy Compilations Greatest Hits Vol. 1 (1999) Greatest Hits Vol. 2 (1999) Greatest Hits Vol. 3 The Very Best of the Beach Boys (2001) Classics Selected by Brian Wilson (2002) Sounds of Summer (2003) The Platinum Collection Sounds of Summer Edition (2005) The Warmth of the Sun (2007) Brian Albums Imagination (June 16, 1998) Live at the Roxy Theatre (June, 2000) Pet Sounds Live (June 11, 2002) Gettin' in Over My Head (June 22, 2004) Smile (September 28, 2004) What I Really Want for Christmas (October 18, 2005) That Lucky Old Sun (September 2, 2008) Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin (August 17, 2010) Title: Re: No new Beach Boys archival CD product this year?
