More great stuff!! Title: Re: The \ Post by: kirkmc- banned on the run on June 02, 2010, 10:01:38 PM Wow! They must really dig that karaoke driven type of irrelevance that M.E.L. pervades so effortlessly...Very cool! G-day mate-) 8)
Title: Re: The \ Post by: Steve Mayo on June 03, 2010, 06:08:36 AM the current lineup does a great job. sure, it isn't the same as 30-40 years ago. 2 members are dead.
but it is a fun show...well done. i will see them any time i can. scott does a damn fine job as musical director. i have seen around 128 or so shows over the decades. a lot of the late '70's and most of the '80's ones were sloppy. this lineup plays the music spot on. see them while you can. Title: Re: The \ Post by: Dave in KC on June 04, 2010, 02:54:52 PM I saw all those shows too Steve. At times they may have been sloppy, but I was seeing The Beach Boys and I soaked it all in. Nothing wrong with today's concerts but they are not nearly the same historical work of art.
Title: Re: The \ Post by: cwalter on June 11, 2010, 11:59:10 PM I agree with Steve.
I've seen the Mike and Bruce Beach Boys about 10-12 times the last ten years (next time on July 20), and I'm happy to report that they are sounding great. And yes I saw the real Beach Boys in the 80's (also very good times!) I guess the main point is that the music and summer vibes are still happening, and if you have the chance to go---GO! |
