This always looked like an after hours photo op to me. How long did the business actually last? Did he sell the store as The Radiant Radish before it closed? Did anyone else in the extended Beach Boys family work there? I've heard very little about this episode, seems to me, and virtually nothing that was anecdotal.
We did try calling the RR back in our college days (when that picture first appeared) but no one answered the phone, as I recall. So we called Van Dyke instead, who was listed in the phone book in those days. And he was, as always, the perfect gentleman.
