I'm no 'Oo expert... but I seem to recall they have played Tommy in its entirety at least once (not one of those 'guest stars' jobs either). edit: I'm wrong... and right: they did perform Tommy with "CK" during their 1989 reunion tour, but they've never done the whole thing live as a band (never done "Underture" or "Welcome"). I hope it comes out officially on dvd. There's been a rumor about it lately.

Sometime shortly after my high school graduation in 1970. Cincinnatti Ohio in a music hall there,,,,that was designed similar to an opera house. It stands as among the top 3 shows I've seen over a lifetime. And I can't immediately recall the other two. A long show following the James Gang as opener. They played for a long time and after I'd given up on hearing Tommy, Roger walked to the mic and announced casually "we want to do a little thing that Pete wrote after breakfast this morning.......upon which Pete launched into the Overture........another 90 minutes later we staggered out into the Ohio night shaking our heads and grinning stupidly.......

Wow...I would give anything to go pack in time to see a Who concert at their peak. I saw them in 2000, and met a guy who saw them in 1970. He told an interesting story about Keith Moon's drumset being transparent, and you could see goldfish in them. He said that they were laying at the bottom, not moving. :lolthat sort of thing doesn't happen very often....... Title: Re: The Who. Tommy. I am now in love with the red white and blue Vistalite drum set. I really want the one that lights up. It would make for an awsome rock and roll Christmas show. ;D

Pete seemed much more... energized on the (bootleg!) recordings I've heard of that year. But yeah, they didn't do Underture, Cousin Kevin, Welcome, or Sensation. At least, not with Keith. Which is a shame, because that was basically the peak of their live skills, which always were legendary.
