Title: Carnie Wilson: Unstapled !
Post by: Ed Roach on January 13, 2010, 01:07:00 PM
Hey, don't look at me for the bad pun - blame the Game Show Network!
Anyhow, Carnie's new show premieres tomorrow night, and I see Aunt Diane in this little clip:

I wonder if Dad or "Uncle" Al will stop by a visit at any point.

This is a little crazy. I hope it doesn't cause Brian to go back to bed for another 5 years.  :-\

I guess I'm one of the only ones who's somewhat looking forward to this, lol. Mostly out of hope that Brian will make a cameo somewhere down the line, but I kind of doubt that. Should be entertaining, though; I think Carnie is really funny.

Amazing how she takes after her dad. Facewise, and otherwise.

Any bets on how long it will take before she mentions that she had to listen to 'Be My Baby' everyday while she was growing up? 1 episode, 2 episodes?

Not seen Diane for a while. Ouch.

I know what you mean. It kind of shook me up a bit; I kept going back to watch the preview to catch that brief second. That line, "Everything is old and nothing is new..." turned out to be prophetic, in a different way...

Anyway, I know I only saw a thirty second preview and I know I'm probably overreacting, but are they, in some subliminal way, trying to pull a Landy/Brian Is Back saga, by throwing Carnie out there in front of everybody - mental and physical problems and all - just to entertain. I'm not saying they're taking advantage of Carnie, I'm sure she's perfectly willing to do this (fame, attention, $$$$$$), but is this another example of exploiting "the Wilson legend", and in some way, eerily echoing Brian?

eh...She's Aunt Dee Dee now Andrew.

As for Brian, his 'tough management' seems to have had the good sense to stay away from this so far. As has, it would seem from the 'cast', Marilyn. Good call.

It does seem a little exploitative, but that's what reality TV is. There's that show about the husband and wife and their 8 children, which is total exploitation of the kids and the dysfunctional marriage of the parents, there's Supernanny, which Wendy was on, Big Brother, The Bad Girls Club (oh man, that one is bad), etc. That's the reason I'm not a huge fan of reality shows; first of all, why should I/we care, and it does seem like a cry for attention. But I always have to make an exception for anything BB's related, lol.

With everything she has done to confront and manage Brian's mental illness, I wonder if Melinda is cringing at this?

Well, it certainly shows that Brian isn't the only nutty one in the bunch. Diane -- who knew?

And Marilyn doesn't seem to be in it much -- she seems far saner than anyone else involved in the whole affair.

Yes, it was quite the show. I really like all the beeping censoring. For uncensored views watch it onlineat gsn something...
nice to see that her hair stylist and his partner are twins.
I think it should be a fun show.
hard to imagine that Carnie was really "broke" tho. Something in her heritage, presumably?

I see in the publicity they're still spinning the old lie that Carnie had her gastric bypass shown live on the net. She didn't - it was admitted very shortly after the alleged broadcast that what was shown was stock footage.

You have to question someone's judgement here - Carnie is a very new mom, starting a bakery business, filming her quiz show and (allegedly) going on tour with Wilson Phillips. Now, how can I make my life more difficult ? Hey, let's do a reality show !

And you know what pees me off the most ? Were I in the States, I'd watch it.  :o

Well, I, for one, enjoyed the show.....you have to take it at face value....light entertainment.

What did amaze me, what that she was so broke that bill collectors were calling.  Apparently, next week's episode will show someone coming down on her spending habits. What's with her husband not working? I'm sure Melinda wasn't about to offer them a "loan".

When push comes to shove, they're pretty much like any other family out there, tho I do have to say I don't have gay twins doing MY hair. :afro

Watched half of the episode last night...turned it off when Diamond Dallas Page walked into the house. Seems like yet another avenue for washed up celebs to get exposure. But I guess even an ex-rival of Hulk Hogan needs to pay the bills.

Watched the last 10 minutes of it or so. Didn't care for it, I guess because Carnie seems to be really, um....irritating. Wendy even made an appearance, along with 'Aunt DeeDee'. Or was it 'Di-di'?

It's "Dee Dee" -- apparently that's what the family calls her. The Honeys will be on one of the episodes.

I won't be watching, since we don't get GSN anymore.

maybe you can go to gSN online , and they'll show it there?
I thought they flashed something like that on the screen. "see it uncensored at" or something.
Can't remember where it said to go, tho.

I met Diane and Ginger at Jan Berry's memorial bash back in '04.

After the party, we all sat together at Canter's Deli in Hollywood . . . Gertie Berry (Jan's widow), Stephen Kalinich, David Beard, Diane & Ginger, Daniel Rutherford (Marilyn wasn't there, but was with Carnie or Wendy in New York, if I remember correctly) . . . plus Alan Boyd and a bunch of other cool people.

I remember that Diane was very hospitable, making the rounds and shaking everyone's hand.

Alternatively, Aunt Dee Dee is probably quite a fantastic person for helping out Carnie and her family in what appears to be a fairly "thin" premise for a reality show.

He's a yoga teacher and motivational speaker now.

Ironic on the last part as that was his gimmick when he went to WWF (now WWE.)

Without passing judgement on whether or not she's a fantastic person, maybe she really needs the $$, as per Carnie's description.

Look at what that balloon guy did with his kid just to get noticed.  People are dying to get these shows because they really require little of anything in terms of talent and they pay well.  The  producers and networks like them cause they are cheap ways to reach a large auduence ........of MORONS!

Give me a good sitcom, movie, or a good old fashioned 10:00pm drama like Boston Legal.

And I also hate those things like the Office or Parks and Recreation with the jerky photography and bad zooms...........

Cheap camcorders have had image stabilization for years and any 12 year old has better camera skills.   Just what the hell are they doing with that "technique "?   Its not even good mockumentary!

This is why I took the leap and ordered the full cable package of all of the movie channels.  If I want to rest and be entertained I can always find a good unedited, uncut, comercial free movie.
