Title: Beach Boys Medley on "The Sing-Off"
Post by: Eric Aniversario on December 17, 2009, 02:53:11 AM
Did anyone catch it?  Female barbershop quartet Maxx Factor performed "God Only Knows", "Wouldn't It Be Nice", and "Good Vibrations".  I didn't get to see it, but it should be on the NBC website tomorrow.  Unfortunately, the group got cut that night.

I almost posted something about this when I saw it the other night.  I thought the ladies did a nice job...good song selection, and they are damn good harmony singers.  Too bad they got cut, but there are some other talented groups on there as well.

I'm really impressed with how they voiced the strings on GOK and GV, and the lead on WIBN was great!  I was throughly impressed.

This is almost like seeing a hipper version of the Lennon Sisters on Lawrence Welk!

Seriously, I give them a lot of credit for both the inventive backing vocals and the fact that they kept the medley in the context of Beach Boys recordings from 1966 (that counts for something in my book).

They certainly did not pick easy songs to sing either..that is for sure! I think WIBN is one of the more challenging leads and GOK is not far behind.

I was so impressed with them. I was shocked they got cut, I thought they were the best harmonizers and had the toughest material.
