I don't know if anyone here is familiar with this Family Guy spin-off, but tonight's episode referenced the infamous story of Murry allegedly forcing Brian to defecate in front of the family.  It was odd to say the least.  Although I've always heard the story involving a plate, in the show's version it was in a box under the christmas tree.  Strange.  I guess one of the writers is a fan. 

I saw that, and I was considering posting about it, but I didn't know where. I was only half-watching it while I was studying, and it really caught me off guard.

I saw that. Pretty hilarious and obscure. Someone there is a BW fan! 

A plate?  I thought he had to do it in the kitchen on a newspaper?  (If I remember "Wouldn't It Be Nice" correctly.)

I heard the reference too, and knowing Murry, I was curious if that actually happened on Christmas once.

Obviously I hope it was the latter and that does sound like a prank Brian would likely have been a part of...  Has the Christmas version of the story ever circulated, or was that part invented by the show writers?  Anybody know?

I'm somewhat of a Family Guy fan, but I can't stomach this show.

I can't get get into the show, either. I'm pissed they took King of the Hill off and replaced it with this one.

Anyone remember the exact quote? I'm trying to remember, it was something about a "Little Deuce Coupe in a box under the Christmas tree," lol. It really was totally random.

A story that should never have been told.  I doubt it's truthful.

Brian's book is the worst source for any story.

I didn't expect it to be funny, I just wanted to hear the reference. It's not amusing or anything, really - and no, not because it's in poor taste, you come to expect that from shows like this, it's simply not amusing. That's to be expected, though - this and American Dad are absolute dreck and Family Guy has been extremely hit and miss for years now. I do not blame the people who hate it outright - the endless pop culture references seem to take up half the scrips sometimes and bore me to death.

Anyway... I've strayed off topic.


Eh, King of the Hill wasn't cancelled or anything, the series just ended.

I did the same thing as you runners...it was momentarily cool to hear the reference, but not very funny beyond that.  I've watched Family Guy for years, and it has indeed become very hit or miss.  The Cleveland Show looked dumb to me from the start, and I had never watched it until now.  Glad to see I wasn't missing much.

I know, I just sort of expected/wanted them to start showing reruns of the show, but I'm glad Adult Swim picked it up last year, so I watch it there.

Ugh, I HATED "King of the Hill".  I could never see what was "funny" about that show.

I love "Cleveland" - I was skeptical about another McFarlane comedy, since "American Dad" is so weak, but "Cleveland" endeared itself to me since I saw the leaked pilot.  It's a nice prelude to "Family Guy", which seems to be on its way back up in a big way compared to last season, which was still showing the damages of the writer's strike.  (The episode with the several-minute-long Conway Twitty clip was made during the strike, for instance.)

So that explains the conway twitty thing.  It went on a bit long for a simple goof.
