Dennis Wilson.

He would have had 65 Big Ones today.

He is so missed by so many.............................

He really is missed. I can't imagine what he would have been like past 40 though.

These comments really grind my gears. Like when people (on this board) have said that they just can't see Dennis past a certain age because of his lifestyle, as if he was destined to go young. That's such a dick thing to say.

Guess I'm going to put on a bit of Pacific Ocean Blue tonight.

How about when his ex-wives say it, or the people who really knew him like his closest friends say it, or his bandmates say it? Are they all dicks too? Because they all have said it, some of them in public...all of them in private. But maybe you know better.

Yes they are. Who the hell are they to say someones lived out their life to its fullest? Only he can be the one to determine that, and obviously he did. But who knows, if he was safer that day he could have lived a longer and more prosperous life...and people looking back saying "wow, what if dennis drowned in the marina that day?" would look like major dicks.

I don't care who says it, wives, writers, brothers...no one should ever say someone is destined to die early, regardless of their perception.

Dennis had the same amount of time as we all have in the end -  a lifetime - and though he had real hard times, he lived much of his life well, in a way that many of us might envy.

He left us a wonderful legacy in his music.

He lives on in the music, in our admiration, and in the arguments!

How about Dennis? He said it too, so he's a "dick" as well right? Your point is so narrow, and rigid, that you must be some kind of fundamentalist, or you have an issue i don't know about. I can see both sides, and what MBE said is right on the money, in a way. There's certainly room for that point of view. Of course those who loved him would prefer if he'd lived a long and healthy life. What happened to him was a brutal thing, and a good many people are still feeling intense pain and incredible loss from it. But its very obvious to anyone who knows more than a little about DW that he'd gone waaaay beyond nine lives by 12/28/83. So many people close to him were absolutely blown away that he'd lasted that long. He came so close to buying the farm so many times and was constantly daring the reaper. It was like a hobby to him. And by the end he was beyond gone. Two wives and a several best friends have all insisted to me(with tears in their eyes) that he'd been "dragging his carcass" around for a year or more before he died. This is no bulletin. For sensitive people to say its difficult to imagine him beyond 40 is not only reasonable, not only un-dick like, but factual if you really know what you are talking about and your heart is not blocked by rigidity from going there. On the other hand, a 65 year old Dennis would be a wonderful thing because he has a family that still loves him, and misses him very badly.

Happy Birthday Dennis! Dennis had big talent and big good looks, but the only things that surpassed these traits was his big heart. So sad :'( Dennis we miss you!

It wasn't so much that Dennis was "destined" to die young, as if it was out of his hands.  Dennis did plenty of stuff that made it increasingly likely that, sooner rather than later, it would all catch up with him. 

Myself, back in the late '70's, I thought Brian would be the first to go...

Happy Birthday, Dennis- every minute that goes by, your music is playing somewhere, and every minute someone is thinking of you.  Thanks for making life a little sweeter for so many people, including those yet to be born.

Jonas I am not trying to be a dick but like Jon I have interviewed many who loved Dennis and believe me nobody told me they thought he would get old. Nobody more then me wishes I could have told the guy how much his music has changed my life for the better. If he was here, healthy and happy I would love it, but the last year to two years he was already gone. I wasn't trying to be anything but honest. I just don't know how Dennis would have pulled out of the state he was in by 1983. He will always be alive in his music. Sorry if I was to blunt or offensive to you.
