Title: Monster Mash
Post by: Wirestone on October 29, 2009, 11:15:22 AM
Brian rehearses his band in "Monster Mash" during sound check. They performed it a couple of times night before last.

Thanks for the link. I always learn something while watching professionals practice.

I know this is just practice, but I hope they sing it in the Boris Karloff voice, like the original.

Which Beach Boy sang lead on this on the Live in Concert album?

He did?! How was it?

They did it TWICE when I saw them in Englewood the other night. Paul Mertens sang lead on the verses, and I don't think he actually knew how the song went. It seemed like he was reading the lyrics and he got the phrasing all wrong.

I was glad they did the uncensored version too. You'll note that the version on the Concert LP is heavily censored. References to Dracula and Beelzebub were in the original, and Paul sang them tonight.

Hearing Brian do the choruses on the youtube video just made me smile this morning.

I doubt he'll be doing it at the Nov 10th show, being post-Halloween and all...

At 4:09, listen to Brian harmonizing over Jeff's lead! It's brilliant! I've never heard him/them sing that little part in harmony before.

How many people would poop themselves if Brian just started singing My Solution for the season?    :lol

How many people would poop themselves if Brian just started singing My Solution for the season?    :lol

I would pay good money to be there if he did that, if only to see the "WTF ?" look on the faces of about 75% of the audience. Then I would crap myself.  ;D

Then maybe afterward he could do the dirty version of Ding Dang!

It would be wonderful for Brian's mental development for him to offend his audience.

The people who typically go to Brian's shows would already be familiar with the song anyway, so I doubt anyone would be offended.

If someone was just there to hear the greatest hits (casual BB fan) and he introduced it as writing it with Roger McGuinn, that fan would be utterly confused and prolly expect something more than it is.

Sounds like we're going for dream set lists that might touch on Love You material...........Now don't think I'm a nut....but how about Brian and Taylor covering Lets Put Our Hearts Together?   Or.....Jeff, Brian, and Taylor taking a shot at It's Over Now?

Airplane would be boss....Jeff could do the high parts....would be swell. Cuckoo Clock is my secret desire, followed by Pitter Patter. The lights go down, a hush falls over the audience, and then...."IT LOOKS LIKE RAAAAAIN..."

That's pretty awesome to see, video proof that Brian is still arranging the stuff as well.

I think somebody should remind him there was a great song called "Monster's Holiday" that Boris did.  He could play that one up until Christmas.  Have yall heard it?  It's great

"It was a MONSTERS HOLIDAY"
