I was under the impression that his only link to the BB's was thru Brian but Brian wasn't involved in Kokomo. I wonder how he ended up on the track?

For Kokomo, Terry called asking for a steel drum player -- Van Dyke used them extensively on one of his albums -- and Van Dyke ended up playing in the session as well.
