You can always see him "playing" something but I can't hear it? Has this ever been so? Did or does he play some more important keyboard parts in concerts? Not too sure about all the other songs...although I'm sure he is quite able to contribute musically, it seems like he leaves the bulk of the keyboard work to Tim.

He does play on Disney Girls nowadays, and whenever Michael does his "how about some Barry Manilow (cue first notes of I Write the Songs) or Neil Diamond (cue first notes of Sweet Caroline)" thing.
In 1971 Bruce played a lot of keys - he sat quietly and pensively at a Hammond B-3 organ next to Dennis, who was at a Fender Rhodes electric piano. Title: Re: Question about Bruce Post by: c-man on October 10, 2009, 09:42:00 PM I noticed at this year's Omaha symphony shows on the "Pet Sounds" songs ("You Still Believe In Me", "Here Today", "Sloop", "GOK", "WIBN"), Bruce played pretty solidly...also noticed he played the sole piano part on "Be True To Your School", while Tim Bonhomme played only organ & synth parts on that one. And Scotty T. tells me that Bruce plays the "tack piano" parts on "Darlin'" and the bridge of "Good Vibes".
Oh, and it was a Wurlitzer electric piano Dennis played in '71 (at least at the Central Park show), but they did use a Rhodes instead in '72 (at the Crystal Palace Bowl concert). In fact, they normally used the Wurly until '84 when they switched to a Yamaha, but in photos of the Radio City Music Hall shows from March of '79, Bruce is playing a Rhodes. Gosh, we're geeks! :) |
