Title: Ballads on Surfin' Safari Post by: shelter on October 02, 2009, 02:46:27 AM When the BB started recording Surfin' Safari, they had already recorded some pretty good ballads. Lonely Sea, Lavender, Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring and the first version of Surfer Girl. All pretty good stuff. Why didn't any of these songs make the album while songs like 'Cuckoo Clock' and 'Heads You Win' did?

Title: Re: Ballads on Surfin' Safari Post by: Shane on October 02, 2009, 09:44:28 AM Lonely Sea was recorded on a "demo" tape that Murry put together which also included Surfin' Safari, 409, and Their Hearts Were Full of Spring. These songs were recorded prior to the rest of the sessions for the Surfin' Safari LP. Lonely Sea was left in the can until their 2nd album, Surfin' USA.
Lonely Sea doesn't have strings... are you confusing it with "The Surfer Moon"? Title: Re: Ballads on Surfin' Safari Post by: Mr. Wilson on October 02, 2009, 12:07:37 PM OOPS..Your right Shane i confused it with Surfer Moon..Sorry..!..Yea i remember the demo tape ..Substituting titles messed my memory up. For some reason i connect those 2 songs together..I suspect its because i dont care for either tune..I stand corrected..

Why didn't any of these songs make the album while songs like 'Cuckoo Clock' and 'Heads You Win' did? It was a dumb move. Maybe Brian or Nik thought it would go against their image. |
