Title: Les Paul Photo Exhibit
Post by: Ed Roach on August 25, 2009, 11:47:10 AM
(Hope this is the right place to post this, as his R.I.P. is still here)
Friends of mine in San Francisco have this amazing art gallery, the San Francisco Art Exchange.
They are mounting an incredible show, featuring rare photos of Les:

"Rock 'N' Roll, indeed music in general, lost one of its great innovators recently.

Les Paul, inventor of the electric guitar, tape echo and 8-track recording, passed away at 94, leaving us with a musical legacy unsurpassed in ingenuity and influence.

Recognized as one of the world's greatest players, Les Paul designed what is perhaps the most famous of all rock 'n' roll guitars, the Gibson Les Paul, a favorite of legends like Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Peter Frampton, Eddie Van Halen, Jeff Beck, Pete Townsend, Steve Howe, Billy Gibbons and Slash.

These intimate photographs reveal a tender side of the music pioneer, always smiling as he's surrounded by the very instruments that made him so legendary, several taken in the warm confines of his New Jersey home. (Also included in this collection are a few iconic guitarists who would not be the same without Les Paul's influence."

If you visit their site, you can view some of these images:
