Title: Darian etc. w/Heart Post by: c-man on August 09, 2009, 07:44:03 AM Yesterday I watched Heart's recent (2007ish) complete performance of the Dreamboat Annie album on the On Demand channel Palladia. I was not surprised that Darian Sahanaja was part of the band, as I've known for a few years now that he sometimes joins them on tour. I was a LITTLE surprised that he served as their musical director for this show, and did the string and background vocal arrangements. I was MORE surprised that he brought along Jeffrey Foskett for background vocals, and The Stockholm Strings for the orchestral parts. All in all, I thought it was a great concert.

Darian and Jeff are shown in quite a few shots. Darian actually gets an introduction; I can't remember if Jeff did. It seems that Darian and Jeff work well with Wilsons. :)
One minor quibble....On my favorite song, "Crazy On You", Nancy flubs her acoustic intro/solo; I'm surprised they left it in. Also, for some reason, they shortened the song, leaving out a small part. Oh well... Apparently Brian was supposed to be in the audience but didn't show so we got his seats...no lie. The show was pretty much straight through, I can't recall any re-do's. The audience was full of L.A. music bus. celebs, and industry types...with a seemingly '80's slant. I ran into several old friends from that era, Susanna Hoffs and Debbie Peterson from the Bangles were there, I saw Rhino Records co-founder Richard Foos, Probyn was there too...and a bunch of actresses you'd probably recognize, my wife knew all their names but I'm drawing a blank now. What blew me away is how close Ann Wilson's voice sounds to how it did in the late '70's, its got so much power...she practically doesn't need a microphone.

Title: Re: Darian etc. w/Heart Post by: Wilsonista on August 09, 2009, 10:06:15 AM I rented the Blu-Ray of the loive Dreamboat Annie from Netflix and agree that it is a great performance. The first time I actualy saw Heart in person was the first tour that Darian played with them.
Title: Re: Darian etc. w/Heart Post by: Jon Stebbins on August 09, 2009, 10:55:29 AM The Wilson sisters (Ann and Nancy with Wondermints backing) performed Till I Die at the 2003 CWF concert and it was great.
