Title: Don't Mess with the recipe Post by: donald on July 15, 2009, 07:49:00 PM Anybody see Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story? Parody of all the music biopics. Especially Walk the Line but with references to Beatles, and Brian Wilson. Funny and funny. You'll never see another music biopic in the same way. :lol
Title: Re: Don't Mess with the recipe Post by: Chris Brown on July 15, 2009, 07:56:20 PM Yeah I saw it, that was my favorite part! The whole movie was hilarious, but the Brian/BB parody was dead on. He even pullled off the mid-70's Brian look quite well.

Title: Re: Don't Mess with the recipe Post by: A Million Units In Jan! on July 16, 2009, 01:30:24 AM The Brian/SMiLE part was the best. You can tell that the writers were big music fans. And did you know, the song that they do during the Brian section- 'Black Sheep'- was co-written by VDP?

Title: Re: Don't Mess with the recipe Post by: donald on July 17, 2009, 11:31:00 AM That scene with the scores of musicians assembled and the guy on the percussion instrument awaiting his cue to play the one note....... :lol
Title: Re: Don't Mess with the recipe Post by: Don't Back Down on July 17, 2009, 12:26:30 PM Yeah, Tim Meadows face is priceless in that scene - haha I also love where the original members of Dewey's group are waiting for their cue, take
a breath, "Black sheep, OOOOOOO" "I think that goat's been singing on this song more than I have!" The Beatles scene is ridiculous, but so hilarious. Jack Black as Paul McCartney? classic! Title: Re: Don't Mess with the recipe Post by: Amanda Hart on July 24, 2009, 12:56:36 PM The Beatles scene is ridiculous, but so hilarious. Jack Black as Paul McCartney? classic! Tenacious D used to play the song cycle from Abbey Road as their encore, and they did a bang up job on it. Title: Re: Don't Mess with the recipe Post by: Nicole on July 24, 2009, 11:06:51 PM No guys, the strings were not tangy, they were salty! LOL.

They both know when the camera is in the room, that's for sure. Otherwise the responses would have been much different. Having spent many years in the TV news biz, it's a shame to see such underdeveloped reporters on the street. Especially in a major market like Atlanta. First clue was the limp-wristed handling of the microphone. It should be thrust towards the speakers mouth not moved around like a wet noodle. Very un-professional. Not to mention his interview job. "What's going to be your last song?" Get the hook! Do many years in the TV news biz help a person double-check his work so as not to post in the wrong threads? Title: Re: Don't Mess with the recipe Post by: Roger Ryan on July 26, 2009, 08:43:58 AM We can always count on Luther for a great zinger (I enjoy them even when I'm the butt of one) ;)
A note to those who seek out WALK HARD: THE DEWEY COX STORY - the full "Black Sheep" Brian Wilson/SMiLE send-up is only available in the extended "director's cut" version of the film. The theatrical release version shortens that segment down considerably. In my opinion, the more specific the parody is in this film the better (i.e. the "Black Sheep" portion); some of the more generalized "music movie bio" jokes grow a little tiresome over the course of two hours. Greatest. Movie. Ever. "We're the cartoon BEATLES~!". :lol Another Brian reference was the 1976 part where it showed him jogging...I was almost expecting to see a Landy-type pop up. Title: Re: Don't Mess with the recipe Post by: Alex on July 27, 2009, 01:25:22 PM How ya doin', Dewey Rahim?
