Title: The Lovester Post by: Barnyard on July 15, 2009, 02:37:36 PM I've noticed some of you refer to Mike as The Lovester in a joking way I think.
What does exactly Lovester means??? I am from Spain, Love is "Amor" in spanish, so I suppose it could be "El Amoroso"?? Thanks!!! Title: Re: The Lovester Post by: MBE on July 15, 2009, 02:49:06 PM It's just kind of a joke. Wordplay on his name. Like he calls himself Dr. Love sometimes. It means nothing really.
Title: Re: The Lovester Post by: Roger Ryan on July 15, 2009, 03:45:46 PM Yes, it's joke name, but not necessarily an insult. American slang (is this used in England as well?) will add the suffix "-ster" to anyone's name (or a portion of their name since it really only works with one syllable) to imply they represent a personality unique to themselves. It is most often a term of endearment between friends or co-workers, but some sarcasm can be implied as well.
SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE used to have a comedy sketch featuring a character who worked in an office next to a copy machine and would drive his co-workers crazy by coming up with increasingly ridiculous add-ons to their names ("There goes 'Roger-roni' making another copy"; "The 'Barnyard-ster' gave himself a paper cut" - that sort of thing). Yeah, THAT'S the ticket... Title: Re: The Lovester Post by: Alex on July 15, 2009, 08:41:07 PM I've seen people refer to Mike as "My Glove". :lol
