Title: Best Tarantino Soundtrack?
Post by: punkinhead on June 19, 2009, 07:45:31 AM
I'm having a really hard time picking which soundtrack is the best. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are great and possibly the most chosen, but I've really been getting into Jackie Brown a lot lately: Didn't I Blow Your Mind?, Natural High (that one's so good), Midnight Confessions, and Across 110th Street....good stuff. Kill Bill has a lot of good stuff too. Which also brings me to Inglorious Bastards, Ennio Morricone is doing the soundtrack and it's gonna be great!  Oh wait, what about Death Proof with Staggolee....oh and From Dusk Til Dawn...danget, too much to choose from.  ;D

I'll go with Pulp Fiction. I think my favorite song is just after Bruce Willis blows away John Travolta, and he's driving down the road in that little car, singing along to the Statler Brothers' "Flowers On The Wall".

I love the use of "Bang Bang (He Shot Me Down)" by Nancy Sinatra in Kill Bill.

Nancy's version is haunting, psychedelic. But, actually, I like a couple of versions. Cher's is good (Sonny Bono wrote the song!). Frank Sinatra did a nice cover on his She Shot Me Down album in 1981.

Gotta be Pulp Fiction - favourite is "Jungle Boogie" which is on the radio as Jules and Vincent are driving to Brett's apartment.

"Dya know what they put on fries in Amsterdam? Mayonnaise. I ain't kidding ya, they drown 'em in that sh*t"

Pulp Fiction, also one of my favorite movies.

This isn't really considered a Tarantino movie song, but I like the song "pass the hatchet" on the movie Desperado, when Tarantino walks into the bar in Mexico and tells his joke before being killed.

Sorry, I don't really watch movies. I've only seen three Tarantino movies: Pulp Fiction (good soundtrack, at least in context), Jackie Brown (virtually no recollection) and Reservoir Dogs (less recollection). So I'll vote Pulp Fiction if it makes you feel better, but keep in mind it's an almost entirely uninformed vote.  ;)

I'm certainly no Tarantino fan. I don't like Pulp Fiction and Reservoir dogs at all. The only movie I found worthwhile is Jackie Brown. So by default I will opt for that one (the soul factor).

I think the Pulp Fiction soundtrack is the best. I have the vinyl LP. Agree about the Nancy Sinatra cut in Kill Bill. Also, I can no longer hear "Stuck In The Middle With You" without feeling the urge to cut someone's ear off.

Whenever I hear Stuck In The Middle With You, I feel the urge to cut both of my own ears off.

I have to admit that GYBAWS is a fantastic song. Who did it, apart from its writer? Undeclineableale Amubscadedade or something?

I think it was Urge Overkill that covered it for Pulp Fiction. Can't remember if the writer was Neil Young or Neil Diamond, though.

Thanks. It is Diamond, BTW. Strange... I very rarely can't recall a band's name, but Urge Overkill is one of these. Must be pretty unimpressive.
