Title: Carl and influence of MSIA on L.A. Light
Post by: MBE on May 03, 2009, 04:20:11 AM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John-Roger

So little is known about Carl's personal life. I provided this link because in reading this I think his involvment with John-Roger influenced the title and the inscription of the "L.A. Light" album. What do you all think?

Sorry, another question rather than an answer.
Was Carl also involved in EST ("Werner Erhard"'s product)?

Since we're talking about the LA Light Album, and having read the wiki entry on J-R, I'll paraphrase a joke from Annie Hall... was John-Roger trying to do to Carl what The Beach Boys did to Walter Yetnikoff?

I hope those stories aren't true! John-Roger spoke at Carl's funeral so there was no falling out between them.

Self-help gurus rarely fail to give me the creeps.

Carl apparently wrote "Where I Belong" for this John-Roger guy...

I've spent my whole life drifting
Towards an elusive sun
I would have wandered forever
If your breeze hadn't come
And you just could be my anchor
You are my northern star
That navigates me home

Don't need to search no more exotic islands
No that I found you're right where I belong
Never been so much at home as I am
Loving you is right where I belong

In my mind we're together
Even when I'm alone
My heart leaves you never
Never will our love grow old
My destination forever
You are my shining star that navigates me home

Don't need to search no more exotic islands
Now that I found you're right where I belong
Never been as much at home as I am
Loving you is right where I belong

Don't need to search no more exotic islands
Now that I found you're right where I belong
Never been as much at home as I am
Loving you is right where I belong

Small snag with your theory - Carl didn't write the lyric for the song.

Not my theory, I read it here: http://www.ndh.org/template.php3?ID=311
Of course the info from the site could be wrong...
