I had no idea VDP worked on Popeye!! Oh, and I should have put The Godfather on my list somewhere...good call SJS. Try to find a copy of Popeye - it's worth it. It never was released on CD as far as I know. If I can manage to transfer the LP to CD-R, I'll let you know. I would like to add Philip Glass' "Koyaanisqatsi", Scott Walker's "Pola X" and Pink Floyd's "More" to it. And I like Isaac Hayes' "Shaft" :afro and Curtis Mayfield's "Superfly" as well. Title: Re: Top 10 fav. soundtracks Post by: The Heartical Don on May 08, 2009, 09:13:50 AM 'Paris, Texas' (Ry Cooder) Great choice! I would like to add Philip Glass' "Koyaanisqatsi", Scott Walker's "Pola X" and Pink Floyd's "More" to it. And I like Isaac Hayes' "Shaft" :afro and Curtis Mayfield's "Superfly" as well. Excellent additions. 'Superfly' is the one that got away in my list, it is so wonderful... it is also historic in that Mayfield succeeded in contradicting almost everything the average blaxploitation flick stood for. It is a highly moralistic (in the good sense) record, with superb arrangements and wonderful melodies. 'No Thing On Me' is a current favourite. There was a William Hurt and Harvey Kietel movie that featured Jerry Garcia singing Smoke Gets in You Eyes as the credits rolled. I always wanted to find that sound track. I can't remember the name of the movie but I remember the songs. Lots of great OLD soundtracks out there too..The Mancini stuff still stands and I have several. Title: Re: Top 10 fav. soundtracks Post by: punkinhead on May 22, 2009, 08:28:19 AM I love Nilsson's Jump into the Fire on Goodfellas
