Title: Re: Phil Spector Guilty of Murder - Unanimous trial verdict Post by: Bicyclerider on April 14, 2009, 08:48:07 AM This is a sad and tragic end to Phil's career. The man who inspired Pet Sounds (at least the production of Pet sounds) and created some of the most memorable music of the 60's, will end his life in jail.
Title: Re: Phil Spector Guilty of Murder - Unanimous trial verdict Post by: A Million Units In Jan! on April 14, 2009, 09:26:14 AM True he will end his life in jail, but because of his own actions. I think it's more appropriate to say it's sad that someone with that kind of talent made the wrong decisions.
Title: Re: Phil Spector Guilty of Murder - Unanimous trial verdict Post by: sofonanm on April 14, 2009, 10:37:56 AM Interestingly - the builder who did our house was just put in jail for shooting his girlfriend in the back a few times. As soon as I was told I pictured him with that giant Spector hair from a few years ago, sitting in court.
Title: Re: Phil Spector Guilty of Murder - Unanimous trial verdict Post by: Fun Is In on April 14, 2009, 11:50:24 AM Based on Phil's long sad history of casual flaunting of firearms it seems like the inevitable tragic end to his freedom and the more surprising that he didn't perpetrate some fatal gun accident a long time ago.

Title: Re: Phil Spector Guilty of Murder - Unanimous trial verdict Post by: The Heartical Don on April 21, 2009, 12:15:20 AM I was strangely and sadly impressed by the way he looked during the verdict. He showed no facial movement and his mouth hung open, as if he were under some very strong sort of medication. Might it be that his violent acts were caused by a combination of medicine and strong alcohol? People tend to become disinhibited mentally and lack moral judgment then. A very tragic case was the death of actress Marie Trintignant, who was pushed down the stairs in an Estonian hotel a number of years ago; he was under the influence of both antidepressants and whiskey.
By the way, I am also reminded of Joe Meek. |
