Title: Carl - Swimming Pool - Early Morning - Good Vibrations Post by: sofonanm on April 03, 2009, 11:26:00 AM i think i read in steven gaines' book that when brian gave carl a copy of the finished "good vibrations" he (carl) went home and was so giddy and excited that he played it in his backyard really loud in the morning, dancing around it it, and in turn waking up the neighbrs.
did i read that or imagine it? i always thought it was a cool story (real or imaginary). But can't for the life of me remember where. Don't have the Gaines book to hand to check.

Badman, page 148. Now that'd be a nice acetate to have! 8) Title: Re: Carl - Swimming Pool - Early Morning - Good Vibrations Post by: sofonanm on April 03, 2009, 02:51:54 PM i think i read in steven gaines' book that when brian gave carl a copy of the finished "good vibrations" he (carl) went home and was so giddy and excited that he played it in his backyard really loud in the morning, dancing around it it, and in turn waking up the neighbrs. did i read that or imagine it? Title: Re: Carl - Swimming Pool - Early Morning - Good Vibrations Post by: Andrew G. Doe on April 04, 2009, 01:02:20 AM I'd have to question that purely on the grounds of it being Badman - you'll note there's a session for "Prayer" listed for 9/19 at which Brian is informed that the tapes for "GV" have gone missing. Small problem - there is no documentation that any such session ever took place. When I did the sessions for 1966/67, I ran everything by Lou - whose research Badman hijacked uncredited - and he pulled out that one, amongst several "GV" sessions taken from Badman, as being unsupported. (More, the Derek Taylor quote is taken entirely out of its original context). It might have happened, but I'd like to see the original source.
Title: Re: Carl - Swimming Pool - Early Morning - Good Vibrations Post by: The Song Of The Grange on April 05, 2009, 03:22:57 PM I have come to learn that Badman is likely to reprint junk info without checking how solid the source is or considering the info in actual historical context. I wouldn't totally trust the Gaines book either. It feels like there is some creative conjecture going on.
