Title: Beach Boys documentary on Australian TV
Post by: mikeyj on February 16, 2009, 02:10:53 AM
There is a documentary on the guys on Australian TV next week that goes over two parts (an hour each) and I'm not sure if it's one I've seen before. This is the description:

"This documentary showcases The Beach Boys at the height of their early fame to the present, in their own home. It's made special by the open and often very frank contributions from Brian, Mike, Alan and Bruce."

So I was wondering if anyone knows what this is? It sounds to me like it could be the Wouldn't It Be Nice documentary from 04 (or was it 05?). Anyway, the main reason I posted it, is so that I could alert any Australians who have cable TV to take note! Here's the details:

Ovation channel - 23 February (9:30pm). It's also repeated the following day at 9:30am and 3:30pm

Do you know whether this is available to view online afterwards? Those of us unfortunate enough not to live in Oz are now curious!  :)

Hey Mikey, thanks for the "heads up". Just checked the Ovation guide and thay don't say too much do they? "9.30 Beach Boys This documentary showcases The Beach Boys at the height of their fame through to the present in their own home surroundings." If this is the BBC Wouldn't It Be Nice doco then its something new for us to see.

Ah you could be right Malc but it just seemed odd that it only mentions Brian, Mike, Al & Bruce in the description. I guess we'll find out in a week or so

Not sure Wee Helper but I doubt it, but if it is the Wouldn't It Be Nice documentary then you can view it on YouTube (if it's still on there)

Yeah I was thinking that they could have at least put the title of the documentary even if they left out the description. As you say, hopefully it's something new for us!

Possibly referring to the 'new' interviews held for the doc, as each were interviewed independently in their own homes. Obviously, the only footage of Carl & DW came from the archives. Anyway, whatever it is - enjoy it !
