This is good news, Capitol were obviously happy with how TLOS did, as we all were, so there now pushing a DVD.

I'm very excited.

Jesus! Who the hell commissioned this. 'We'd like you to make it look as trashy and vulgar as possible please. No, worse than that if you could. No, worse. Worse. Ok, that's fine.

Sweet!  I'm excited for this release.  Although I'm sure some of this stuff is already on the TLOS CD/DVD that I have.  IMHO you can never have too much Brian Wilson product!   8)

The cover's looking very trashy indeed. Well, nothing new in the BW world after all... I too would prefer a concert DVD over anything else. Find myself watching the Smile live DVD a lot more often than listening to BWPS. The stage is where both those albums first came to life.

...perhaps it was a member of the old blind class aristocracy, looking back through the opera glass at the photoshop window he has open on his monitor while laughing to himself that he is getting paid to make something like this cover

Or maybe it's just that the original TLOS backdrop artist Rick Farmiloe was dropped back(?)

It contains the performances from Capitol Studio A.

I read that Brian will have track-by-track commentary.

Here's a transcript

"This song is about the sun, and how it's lucky to roll around Heaven all day.  Oh and it's an old sun too.  It's called That Lucky Old Sun.  I went to the record store... do they even have those any more?  And I bought Louis Armstrong's version.  And I changed the chords, and this is how it sounds."

"This song is about morning, and the beat it has."

"This song is about love... the good kind.  Not the bad kind."

"This song is about how my wife will be my surfer girl forever and ever."

"This song is about living, not dying.  And how we should let things live.  Oh and whales."

"This song is about all the girls in Mexico."

"This song is about finding your role in California."

"This song is about oxygen, and how you need it to go to your brain."

"This song is about midnight, and how it's the start of a brand new day"

"This song is about going home.  It's called Going Home... haha!!"

"This song is about California, and this dream i had about singing with my brothers."

Haha very true GoofyJeff, but then again Brian has always hated doing interviews... I'd rather him be good at music than have heaps of charisma

The track by track commentary will probably be the videos that were/are available on the Apple Quicktime website in the week before the album was released.

On another note I wonder how the sound production will compare on the DVD.  Obviously people complained a lot about compression on the CD but personally I found the problem to be the sound was too dry and would have liked to have seen more reverb so maybe the 'live' version will have this.  Afterall, Mr Wilson is the king of reverb!

Too bad they couldn't get this together in time for Xmas, I would have bought it for PongHit's mom.

What exactly is everyone's beef with the TLOS artwork? It's not like its any worse than the cover of Pet Sounds.

Well I don't like it at all... whereas I quite like Pet Sounds

As long as it includes the visuals featured in the concert performances I will buy.

There needs to be a John Madden commentary on the commentary

"Here's a guy who when talks, it's usually only a sentence or two!"

It's cool we'll be getting a live DVD of the concert but it does seem a little unnecessary.  Still, I imagine I'll be picking this one up.

The extras definitely make this a worthwhile product. Having those MySpace performances, the "Black Cab" session and the Zooey Deschanel interview on disc is the right choice.

Wait, this DVD is recorded in the capitol studios??

Uhh, what a wasted opportunity.
