Title: R.I.P. Earl Palmer Post by: c-man on September 20, 2008, 11:50:08 AM See the thread in the "General Music" section of the board for details, but Earl passed away at 84.
Some of the BB cuts he played on: Please Let Me Wonder, Sherry She Needs Me, It's About Time, Seasons In The Sun, Life Is For The Living, Deep Purple, It's Over Now, Still I Dream Of It, Sumahama, and Song Within A Song (unreleased and unbooted 1980 track). And tons of Jan & Dean stuff. Title: Re: R.I.P. Earl Palmer Post by: Joshilyn Hoisington on September 20, 2008, 01:01:29 PM Really sad to hear this, Earl is one of those guys I longed to meet.
Solid drummer, great feel, and the way he and Hal locked in on those J&D cuts beats any quantization you could do these days. Another Wrecking Crewer gone...another legacy committed to the aether. Earl Palmer Post by: Bicyclerider on September 21, 2008, 08:56:11 AM I met and spoke with him at Ponderosa Stomp in New Orleans in 2005 - a true gentleman, he signed his book (biography) for me - a must read for those interested in the deveopment of rock music and rock drumming. This guy invented the rock beat (on Little Richard's records). Also got to see Scotty Moore and DJ Fontana play!
