Title: Mono 'Deuce Coupe' etc Post by: chris.metcalfe on September 08, 2008, 04:01:59 AM Just played my mono LDC LP for the first time for a long time and noticed a Brian falsetto right at the end of the title song which is cut off by the stereo mix (both LP and CD). Fun Fun Fun is a more obvious example, but what other mono tracks from this period were cut off early for stereo (and why?). And is the LDC mono mix available on CD?

Title: Re: Mono 'Deuce Coupe' etc Post by: Brian65 on September 08, 2008, 05:52:06 AM The mono single mix of Don't Worry Baby has Brian doing a little bit more falsetto at the end, it is on the greatest hits vol. 2. The lp mono version of Be True To Your School has Brian finishing the "Hawaii" style falsetto at the end on the new 2008 Singles Boxset and on the original LDC lp. Don't Back Down on GV Disc 1 has an extended ending not heard on the Stereo Version.

Title: Re: Mono 'Deuce Coupe' etc Post by: lance on September 08, 2008, 02:17:35 PM Yeah, the mono mix is much better to me too. I mean much better. The stereo version hurts my ears.
I think of those early albums, they all sound better in mono(I mean as far as I have heard) except for maybe Surfin' USA. IN fact, I would go with mono all the way to Friends, except for modern remixes which also sound good. Sixties' stereo just doesn't sound all that great nowadays. The stereo "DWB" first appeared in 1964. :) Title: Re: Mono 'Deuce Coupe' etc Post by: Don't Back Down on September 08, 2008, 08:00:55 PM ooops! ;D
