Title: Christmas Day '77 Post by: Aegir on August 25, 2008, 01:44:52 PM I think this is a really heartfelt song. Did Mike write this one by himself?
Title: Re: Christmas Day '77 Post by: Andrew G. Doe on August 25, 2008, 03:22:34 PM With Brian, apparently.
Title: Re: Christmas Day '77 Post by: Dutchie on August 25, 2008, 10:53:24 PM i think there are some good songs on it. Glad that some were released a few years ago
Title: Re: Christmas Day '77 Post by: MBE on August 26, 2008, 02:33:34 AM You are speaking of the session right? Alone On A Christmas Day never came out. A shame as it's very good.
Title: Re: Christmas Day '77 Post by: Aegir on August 26, 2008, 02:39:24 AM Yeah, the song. Is it called Alone on a Christmas Day or just Christmas Day? It's stupid that they'd have two songs with the same title...

All I Wanna Do? :smokinvs. Al I Want To Do? mmm, not totally the same. But if that one counts: Darlin' and Oh Darlin'? (2 different songs in every possible aspect) Or what about Time (Denny solo vs. Carl solo) Title: Re: Christmas Day '77 Post by: GoofyJeff on August 26, 2008, 09:12:47 AM It's stupid that they'd have two songs with the same title... After Morning Christmas and Winter Symphony, this is the best Christmas song recorded for the aborted 77 album. I know that doesn't say much... Odd that it wasn't on the Ultimate Christmas CD. Title: Re: Christmas Day '77 Post by: Bicyclerider on August 27, 2008, 05:34:08 PM I believe that was Christmas Day on the 60s Christmas album.
I always liked Alone on Christmas Day and was also disappointed it wasn't included in the 77 Christmas stuff. Title: Re: Christmas Day '77 Post by: Smilin Ed H on August 28, 2008, 11:32:54 AM That's interesting. When BW released his Christmas album it got a lousy review in The Observer in the UK and the critic referred to the fact that even BW thought Christmas Day was bad because of what he said on the demo. Jeez.
Title: Re: Christmas Day '77 Post by: Bicyclerider on August 28, 2008, 12:09:00 PM On what demo? There are some Sea of Tune sessions where Brian may have said something derogatory about Christmas Day.
Title: Re: Christmas Day '77 Post by: Wirestone on August 28, 2008, 12:10:02 PM So am I right in thinking there are three BW/BB songs with titles like this:
Christmas Day (60s) Alone on Christmas Day (70s) On Christmas Day (2000s) Title: Re: Christmas Day '77 Post by: Aegir on August 28, 2008, 12:30:23 PM Okay, so the song is officially called "Alone on a Christmas Day"? The version I have is just called Christmas Day. That's the trouble with boots.

Title: Re: Christmas Day '77 Post by: Wirestone on August 28, 2008, 01:29:05 PM I think that's Christmas Time, right? An Usher sessions thing.
Title: Re: Christmas Day '77 Post by: matt-zeus on August 29, 2008, 03:14:31 AM Which one is 'Alone on Christmas day'? Is it a recycled one or was it a new one?
