I just noticed, to my complete surprise, that iTunes offers a Beach Boys version of "Smile"... that has apparently been on there since *2006*.  How did this slip by unnoticed?!!

For those unaware of its existence like I was, the tracklist is this...

(You can buy the 'Main' and 'Alternate' versions separately, though I'd think they'd be rather short, or both as one long album.)

How did something as momentous as an official Beach Boys "SMiLE", such as it is, escape into the public without any fanfare???

Errr... it's the other way around.

I recall a similar track list (with hyperlinks to buy the tracks) was done by someone on Amazon when BWPS came out.  I just figured it was a fan who'd compiled it so interested folk could hear the BBs' "finished" vintage segments of the Smile puzzle after they'd digested BWPS.  Never thought it was "official" though no doubt EMI would take no umbrage as it meant more sales.

I think somebody mentioned this before although when I last looked iTunes had only compiled one Beach Boys version of Smile. Makes you hunger for an official release even more!

Search on "Beach Boys."  Then, in the "Related" group in the results, click on "World of the Beach Boys." On the displayed page, scroll down to "The Beach Boys Play Smile" and click on the picture.

Yeah, that's the only way I can find it too.  When you go into there, you have a choice of three tabs - the Main Version, the Alternate Version, or both in one set.
