Title: Buddy Holly's "Everyday"
Post by: the captain on June 15, 2008, 08:36:35 PM
Saturday afternoon I was in a Buddy Holly mood and quickly recorded a version of his "Everyday" just for fun. I've posted it at http://myspace.com/thebeaumondes (http://myspace.com/thebeaumondes). I hope you stop over and have a listen.

It's really "cute". I like the doot doots during the instrumental. I haven't heard Holly's version in years, but you seem to have replicated the percussion pretty well.

The percussion was an afterthought, just slapping a book with one hand (the left) and my thigh with the other. Two mics, one above each, for one stereo track. The original is the same idea, but I don't know what they were slapping.

Oh, the doots were mostly just because I couldn't find my xylophone, which I was going to use, and didn't feel like using synth xylophone or anything else. So first it was just one doot on the melody, but I got carried away a little.
