Found this bootleg on vinyl for $1.50. (as well as a sealed copy of Looking Back With Love) Score of the century IMHO. I think this show must be from 1971, but can't be sure. There's an amazing version of Disney Girls with horns and heavier drums. There are no Beach Boys harmonies on this version (maybe everyone but Bruce and the backing guys took a break during this song) and if it weren't for this fact, I'd prefer this version to the album track. It really is that good. Bruce sounds more emotive than on the record. It's just gorgeous. They do a badass Long Promised Road as well as a great Take A Load Off Your Feet as well as great versions of other stuff as well. I have to say, Mike's voice sounds very strong at this show. I just watched the Knebworth DVD again and was horrified at how bad he sounded!!!! Oh, and they do a rockin' Student Demonstration Time. I have to say it made me re-access the song a bit. Without Mike's voice mixed up so high as on the record, it flows better and sounds more natural. It rocks. Who cares if it's about students demonstrating or whatever. And how does that fact make it cheesy in the first place? It was 1971 for Christ's-sake. The topic was (and is) relevent. If anyone but Mike had written it, it would be hailed as a..... well, in higher regard, I dare say. I know Mike's a weird "non-hip" non "rock n' roll cool" guy, so I guess anything he does that is actually relevent in a way that cooler rockers can get a free pass on, is looked at with suspicion.

They also blast into "It's About Time" but after about 30 seconds we're into the run-off groove!!!! :(

Does anyone know if this complete show exists in any other form?

Oh, Mike also makes a crack about Dennis not being there. He jokes that "He OD'd" The crowd boos and he says he's just kidding. For all my previous defending of Mike, I actually did feel like slugging him when I heard this. Oh, but I guess Dennis did it for me. ;)

It came in a plain white sleeve.  The silver lable only lists the songs.

PS: the band didn't play MSG 11/72.

And if they had there would not likely have been 'Disney Girls' in the setlist.  The personnel had changed I think.

The entire show circulates.  Great, great show.  Some people have complained that this show and others of the era are too slow, loose & "hippie" sounding, but that was the vibe at the time.  It's great to kick back with a cold one (beer or rum & coke does it for me) and get into the spirit of these early '70s shows!

The album had three sleeves. The best one is a cool close up of Dennis ironic because he is not on it. It's a great album really, Don't Go Near the Water IS better then the LP version. It kicks kind of like Do It Again.

I'd like to see legit release of a live set from this era. This sounds like a good candidate for at least a portion of a live comp set from between Sunflower and Endless Summer.

Problem is, none of the '71 shows were recorded on multi-track (last I heard).  We could maybe get something from '72, as many of those shows were professionally recorded, but I thihk they're all from late '72, pretty much after the Sunflower stuff was dropped from the live set.

When the band did 'Student Demonstration Time' live during this period, was the lead sung through a bull-horn as on the album?

I think It's About Time remained in the set to the end of '72 and may have been professionally recorded, but that's about it.
