Title: Jan Berry - Carnival of Sound :slightly OT
Post by: Mooger Fooger on May 09, 2008, 11:43:44 AM
Just listening to it for the first time ever. HOLY MOLY if that isn't one of the lost 60's classics, I don't what is!! Inventive, fresh and damned out of this world. Wow. Puts anything J&D post 66 accident to shame.

It'll be nice when we can release the original masters, as opposed to the crappy acetate bootlegs.  ;)

Is there a possibility that the lp be released by the same folk who put out the Dragon Brothers CD last year? I'd certainly buy it in a heartbeat.

Agreed. As much as I like my bootleg copies of it, I usually end up thinking "I wish I could hear the masters of this"....such a great album

Mark, what's holding it up at this point?

The masters are owned by Warner Bros., so I imagine it would be a Rhino release -- unless they farm it out.

I have the documentation and interview material (from my larger research) to write in-depth liner notes and a sessionohraphy for Carnival of Sound.

Just waiting to be given the opportunity to do it.
