Title: Brian's Religion Post by: Jim V. on April 21, 2008, 04:48:40 PM I know this is a touchy subject, but I always wondered what religion Brian belongs to. We all know about Mike due to his advocacy of the Maharishi, but what about Brian?
Title: Re: Brian's Religion Post by: the captain on April 21, 2008, 04:52:53 PM I'd hazard a guess that he's not strictly religious, but is somewhat spiritual.
Title: Re: Brian's Religion Post by: SG7 on April 21, 2008, 06:53:25 PM I think he was much more into religion during the SMiLE years. Who knows what he believes now....
Title: Re: Brian's Religion Post by: c-man on April 21, 2008, 07:04:36 PM Someone over on the Blue Board mentioned they saw Brian & family leaving church one Sunday morning recently. Not sure what kind of church.
Title: Re: Brian's Religion Post by: Joshilyn Hoisington on April 21, 2008, 07:49:26 PM Probably Bel-Air Pres.
Title: Re: Brian's Religion Post by: Aegir on April 21, 2008, 09:21:18 PM Brian has said the voices he hears are the Devil talking to him. He's mentioned that during the time of Pet Sounds he and Carl would literally pray for a good album. During an interview around the time WIRWFC came out, though, he said he didn't believe in Jesus.
So my guess? He was raised Christian and is probably raising his kids Christian, but is way more spiritual than actually "religious". Title: Re: Brian's Religion Post by: Alex on April 21, 2008, 10:13:08 PM Brian devoutly believes in Phil Spector, and his personal favorite text of Spectorism is the book of Ronettes, passage entitled "Be My Baby".

Since when has Melinda been Jewish? I don't think so. Especially if you believe Joe Thomas's lawsuit against her (I don't think she'd make an anti-Semitic remark about Irving Azoff if she herself were Jewish, though granted it may not have been true). I think the confusion stems from Gary Usher's book, but she looks awfully WASP to me. Title: Re: Brian's Religion Post by: MBE on April 22, 2008, 04:08:33 AM I read it in the Usher book and never heard othewise. Never knew about her comment.
Title: Re: Brian's Religion Post by: Jim V. on April 22, 2008, 06:38:43 AM hmm thats all interesting. I'd probably venture a guess and say hes Christian in some form.

Explain plz Title: Re: Brian's Religion Post by: donald on April 22, 2008, 11:49:59 AM The recent Christmas album had some traditional Christian carols. Wasn't just secular holiday standards.
And the BeachBoys themselves recorded the Lords Prayer. I'd have to go with Christian....at least as a family tradition if not strictly religous. Title: Re: Brian's Religion Post by: Smilin Ed H on April 22, 2008, 11:54:59 AM I thought she was Jewish too...
Title: Re: Brian's Religion Post by: Mark H. on April 22, 2008, 12:10:13 PM I agree with the prior post that indicated Brian worships at the alter of Phil Spector with Be My Baby as the holiest of hymn's. I'm sort of serious.
Clearly Brian finds spirituality, healing, and grace in music. |
