I can't believe that people actually sued him for failing to teach them to fly.

My favorite Maharishi story:

The Beatles, Mike,  Donavan and co. arrive at the Ashram. Everyone is uncomfortably silent until John gets up, pats Maharishi on the head and goes "there's a good little guru" like you would pet a dog! Another favorite Lennon?Maharishi line: "tell you the truth, I was hopin' he'd slip me the answer".  :-D

I knew once he retired a few weeks ago that he wasn't feeling too well. Wonder how his followers will react.

It's a newsitem here in Holland as well. Pretty logic, as he died in his Maharishi TM centre in Vlodrop, the Netherlands. Several newschannels have an item on his passing. Both Beatles and Beach Boys were mentioned as followers in the 60-ies btw.

Link: http://maps.google.nl/maps?f=q&hl=nl&geocode=&q=vlodrop+maharishi&sll=51.156766,6.155133&sspn=0.040428,0.079823&ie=UTF8&ll=51.156793,6.15509&spn=0.020214,0.039911&t=h&z=15&om=0

Apparently there had just been an international seminar or something like that, so a lot of his followers (also most of the important ones) were around him when he passed away. So there's sadness, but it was also said that the time was right (and as was literally told "cosmically" or something similar). A spokesman was on the radio telling this this morning, and he also mentioned that his successor is already known. He will be buried in India later this week.

Pretty fancy place he has/had here in Vlodrop, been there a couple of times. Not difficult to spot where all the money was going. Still, R.I.P.

The wire story in my local paper claimed that the Beatles departed the ashram when Maharishi discovered them using drugs. I've NEVER heard that version before, always the inappropriate behavior of MMY toward a female student.

Anybody ever heard the drug story before?
