Title: Little Surfer Girl Post by: Jay on January 11, 2008, 12:31:57 AM I've always been curios about this song from the Good Vibrations box set. Why does the recording fade out so early? Was the tape damaged beyond repair? Are there any known "safety" copies? The weirdest thng about the recording is that it's still apperently playing correctly when it fades out. There are no signs of damage(i.e. dropouts, distortion, etc.).

That snippet came from Brian's early home recordings and if I recall correctly was all of the song that was on the tape. It appears that Brian recorded over things so there are sections where only partial songs remain. The version of the group rehearsing Surfin and Brian's demo of Surfin USA are from the same tapes and there is a short instrumental that has the melody of Car Club which was originally recorded as "Funny Boy" by the Honeys around 1963. Mark Linett :) Title: Re: Little Surfer Girl Post by: Jay on January 12, 2008, 01:55:31 AM Thanks for the info. :) Another question I have is, why was it included in the box set? Having any kind of unreleased Beach Boys music is cool, but it's only 20 seconds long. The space probably could have been taken up with another unreleased song instead. Or maybe two.
