Title: Where Is She? Post by: mikeyj on December 29, 2007, 11:01:41 PM I recently got a copy of Brad Elliott's book Surf's Up which is fantastic. When I was reading through the unreleased songs section I came across this:
"Besides those unreleased songs already mentioned, out-takes from the Sunflower period include.... Where Is She?, a beautiful five-minute version of 'Til I Die (a piece of which is found on the Hawthorne Hot Shots bootleg)" So what's the deal with this. I have never heard that bootleg so does anyone have any info? Is it really an early version of Til I Die or is it a totally different song? It's just a lot of stuff in the book is understandably now out of date (eg: "It's unlikely that Asher's lyrics to GV were ever recorded" or something to that effect). Title: Re: Where Is She? Unfortunately I've never heard "Where Is She?". Title: Re: Where Is She? Well that's what I thought too that it was the long version of Til I Die but AGD lists Where Is She in his unreleased tracks section too. So I just assumed it was an early incarnation of the song.. With what differences (eg: lyrical etc..) I don't know and that's what I am curious to find out. Title: Re: Where Is She? Post by: Andrew G. Doe on December 30, 2007, 07:32:37 AM "Where Is She" (recorded 11/69, pretty much a solo BW track, at least the one I've heard) is a totally different song (there's a missing comma which makes the sentence misleading if read quickly). The long version of "'Til I Die" (as mixed and edited by Steve Desper) is indeed on Endless Harmony.

I was totally baffled by that for a moment. Title: Re: Where Is She? Post by: Smilin Ed H on December 30, 2007, 11:00:45 AM What's it sound like, Andrew?

How complete is the recording you've heard, would you say? Is it much of a production or a basic track and vocal, a demo, etc.? Title: Re: Where Is She? Post by: Andrew G. Doe on December 30, 2007, 01:11:06 PM Sounded like parts of a demo roughly edited together. One of Brian's little experiments.
