Title: Why don't you see many 1960's TV interviews with Brian or the Beach Boys? Post by: audiodrome on January 29, 2006, 06:41:16 PM With all of the Beach Boys documentaries that I have, I have never really seen an interview or press conference from the '60's with Brian or any of the other Beach Boys. I've seen tons of Beatles, but never any Beach Boys.

National TV didn't chase after in depth rock interviews in those days as a rule unless you were Elvis or (folkie, protest singer) Dylan, neither of them bands. Bands were normally expected to get on with it/off the stage after the pro forma Dick Clark-type intro and outro chatty bits. Beatles upped the ante and changed the rules coming on like a band of Elvises as to pop appeal, great sound bite dispensers besides. But that's a guess, only. When did bands started getting 'put on the couch' on TV, as in the shrink's analysis prop and the similar one folks free-associated on for Johnny Carson and friends? I'd think that had the Boys been interviewed at length on David Susskind or Tonight Show in those days, we'd already know about it, but maybe I'm wrong Title: Re: Why don't you see many 1960's TV interviews with Brian or the Beach Boys?
