DUDE, that thread was perfect! Search, existential doubt, nearness, completion. It summed it all up.

What in God's name is Macca doing with this Lexus and Fidelity Investment pap?

That was one of his big appeals...never messing around with corporate garbage.

That's one thing Yoko The Space Cadet has on him there.

Um actually.... Yoko's the reason that Nike had the rights to "Revolution" in the late 1980s. And she's made a career oout of being a professional widow, totally milking the JL back catalog for the past twenty years. Paul doesn't bank on his leftovers or back catalog to his credit and loss.

Surely, he can afford to finance his own tours...

Is WACKO JACKO keeping Beatle songs off of iTunes?

I believe that what's keeping the Beatles off iTunes is

1) The fact the Beatles/Apple/EMI are always behind the technology curve--witness the delay in the initial release of the Beatles catalog on CD in the '80s.

2) More specifically, there has been an ongoing dispute between the Beatles and Apple Computer over the use of the name "Apple". The computer company has paid significant money to Apple Corps over this dispute. There was apparently a truce of sorts for a time, with Jobs' company agreeing to stick to computers and the Beatles agreeing to stick to music. But with Apple Computer getting so heavily into the music business (with the iPod and iTunes), this dispute has reignited.

Here's an overview (http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/technology/2004-09-19-beatles_x.htm) of the situation. The proposed deal mentioned in this article never materialized, however.

I was shocked that at the beginning of the No Direction Home DVD, the first thing you see is "Apple Presents", and it took me a second to realize it was the computer company, not the Beatles. I'm guessing that pissed off more than a few folks in the Beatles camp.

this is what happens when an experiment (mine) goes awry...but my legitimate question has been answered...now for another one...how could ANYONE confuse the two Apples? Yes, a computer company is giving me access to music (not for free, btw) but it's not a record company,  it doesn't as far as I know "sign" any artists...well, whatever,iTunes isn't perfect but I'll keep it...the multi- colored apple should accompany any reference to the computer manufacturer, did you see that at the beginning of the Dylan film?    MONEY RUINS EVERYTHING
