c) The only availiable version is on The Adam Marsland Chaos Band's excellent live CD Long Promised Road. I've always rendered it "(Wouldn't It Be Nice To) Live Again", but I'm probably wrong, as no-one else does.

Nope...you're right.  We blew it.  Alan didn't catch this until the album had already gone to press.

No matter - it's a great song, and an outstanding version, however you spell it. Anyone out there doesn't have this album, go get it - you're missing out on some great music and musicianship.

I'll second that...it is one of the best "tribute" albums i've ever heard - by anybody, in tribute to anybody!  Just a solid event all the way around.

The Chaos version is fairly close to the BB version, or so I'm told. I think  Adam might have made some slight changes as far as key, tho.

Adam can give you the chapter and verse the musical changes, but to these musically illiterate ears it's awfully close to the original in almost every respect, and the original is among the best three unreleased BB tracks I've ever heard. Utterly magnificent. Adam's band's version is merely awesome. Buy his CD, and judge for yourself.

I wanna say "you must be new" but I know thats not the case. :lol

Brian's solo take on "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'", and Denny's "Ecology", rough as it is. Brian wasn't the only Wilson who knew the value of recycling a good riff.  :)

It's petty and boring, if a debate is in full swing maybe their ain't time to double-check everything typed before it's sent, or maybe some people are just better at typing than others. Who cares...? To my ears part of the verse of Live Again sounds an awful lot like the last part of the chorus from Cuddle Up.

Yes, I think it was going to be released in 2004 but I don't remember what happened. Probably some legal things....

If I remember correctly, Mark said the Surf's Up DVD-A was still in the planning stages when the project was dropped by Capitol - probably due to consumers' lack of interest in DVD-A's in general.

Oh hell yeah, Andrew...why wasn't that on 15 Big Ones? Unless it was recorded after, it was better than just about any thing on that album.  Brian's falsetto in the middle part was just..wow. At the very least it should have been on Love You.

"YLTLF" was recorded fall 1976.

The differences between the original recording and ours are thus:

(a)  The original is one whole step lower in key (we had to change to accommodate Evie's range).
(b)  We deleted a fairly long and repetitive guitar solo (basically three notes played over and over again).  This was probably a placeholder by Carl for a more developed solo that never was realized.
(c)  My Dennis-like response on the third verse was just an ad lib.  It's not on the original.
(d)  There's a minor electric piano (Wurlitzer) line on the second verse (basically doodling in the major scale) that we dropped fairly early on so we wouldn't have to use an extra keyboard on the song.
(e)  The ending vocal counterpoint isn't exactly the same but it's close.  Ours is a little sparser because we had to sing and play fairly complicated parts simultaneously.  Evie sings Mike's part, then John (IIRC) does Carl's and I sing Brian's part.

The block backing vocals through the rest of the song are identical to the original.

I've had a lot of people ask me through "back channels" for a copy of the song, but it was only in our hands as long as it took for us to learn it, so I can't help anyone!  Sorry.  :)

The lyric sounds sufficiently Manson-ish - "She should be with me/It would set her free" - for such a supposition to carry some weight. Personally i think it is.

So no-one knows then. Hmmm, I agree that it sounds like it is... Spooky screaming at the end of the track. One of my fave 20/20 moments.
