Any more info on this? I saw David Marks this year and it was great! Cool he is playing with Bruce/Mike.

I think that Dave Marks can be expected to pop up now and then at shows in the NY/NJ area.  I think he lives up there.  Dean Torrence shows up more often than not at Southern California shows because he lives in the area...

Cool. Its still neat he played the whole set with them, it would be interesting to hear a recording of that because Dave just rips on guitar compared to anyone I've seen in the BB band. Guess that's what comes with being an original BB ;)

I believe this was the first time David has played an entire set with the BB's since '99, usually he just comes out for the encore. I also heard that he sang lead on Do You Wanna Dance?

I wonder if he even played some rare songs with them.

It would be great if he joins them now. The people here know that I have some problems with the Mike&Bruce-show because in the last years the quality of the music had to step back too much. I welcome every effort to make a great band out of these guys and I think david would be perfect as a musician AND a real Beach Boy

Normally, I wouldn't even consider watching the Mike and Bruce revue (I saw the band when Carl was still alive, and prefer my memories of that).

However. If David came along, I just might go watch.

When the heck did Mike & Bruce play in New York City? Bruce's post just mentions "New York", I think they played upstate somewhere. I would've definitely gone if they were playing in the city.

I think it was a private in Westchester.

Private show....nice. If only, I guess. Lead on Do You Wanna Dance? Cool. I thought Dave was a great singer at Rusty's Surf Ranch and was really pleased I decided to spontaneously go down for the event. I remember when I was watching him play those Marksmen and early Beach Boys tracks how great it would be to see him with Mike/Bruce or Brian/Al. May I also add here that any Beach Boys who hasn't yet read the David Marks biography should definitely pick it up. It was easily the most gripping and REAL book on the Beach Boys I've read, a real page turner. I don't think it lasted me more than two or three days  ;D

The show was a $500 a head fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester County at the Saw Mill River Club in Mount Kisco.  It was a beatifully styled, A-list sort of party.  We only live about 15 minutes from there so it was nice to see the band so close to home.  Paul Schaffer was there.  If anyone saw Al and David in Ridgefield, they saw him there as well.  There is a photo posted on DavidLeeMarks.com

The show sounded really good with John Cowsill on drums!  There was so much more energy than when David sat in with them last August.  It was a lot of fun.  David did play the whole set this time, which was cool, and he did sing lead on Do You Wanna Dance. He also did the surf/car guitar leads and Scott played all the later leads which really works out nicely.  David loves to improvise and play lead and all that, but he really loves playing rhythm.  He gets off on adding the subtle nuances and textures behind another great guitarist so it was fun for him to play with Scott on some of the later stuff (to David) like God Only Knows and Wouldn't It Be Nice.

LoveandMercy - I'm glad you liked the book!  Thanks for coming out to Rusty's!!
