Title: Marilyn
Post by: sherryluvsbrian on September 02, 2007, 12:32:45 PM
Don't know if this is another story or truth. I heard from a friend of a friend that marilyn used to get high right along side of brian, not hard drugs just smoking pot the frist 10 years they were together, and in 76' she has an affair with a man named rocky, he was working for them somehow. Anyone know of this?

Stephen Gaines described an affair between Rocky Pamplin and Marilyn. I have never heard anything about Marilyn getting high with Brian, although I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out she smoked some weed. I mean, it was the '60s and she was married to a rock star, so... It isn't that big a deal either way, frankly. (And neither is the affair, if it's true, as far as I'm concerned.) I'm more interested in chord progressions.

Just wondering if anyone heard of it before, i could care less if she got high, i got high for years, as for the affair, with what she was putting up with i wouldn't blame her. I like to know everything i can about BW/BB.

Marily could write the book of all books, but it's probably best for a lot of reasons that she doesn't.

You should read "Catch A Wave" by Peter Ames Carlin, the latest biography of Brian and a fine book.

Brian's "autobiography", "Wouldn't It Be Nice" is not well-regarded.

Supposedly Marilyn would spike Brian's milkshakes with major doses of acid and would cook everything with very, very potent cannabis butter during the Smile period, all without Brian's knowledge.

Utter nonsense. And slanderous to boot.

Hi Everybody,

A brand new member here.  All your threads and contributions are excellent.  Having just finished the Carlin book (and the Gaines book) its really cool to read Peter's take on many issues.

Having just bought many of the documentaries (Endless Harmony, I Just Wasn't Made For These Times, American Band, The A&E docu, the story of Smile) I am so impressed by Marilyn.  Her brief clips on these programs show that she is still very full of love and awe for Brian.  After all she has been through, to be so nice and open and to express her love for many of his songs -- even at this late date (Caroline No, etc) it shows she really has a lot of inner beauty.  And having heard about how she met Brian and how her family took to him so quickly, I believe Brian was very lucky to find such a companion.

I don't know anything about the wives  of the other Beach Boys, but I have a feeling Marilyn is in a class by herself.  A very special lady.

I agree. We all have our faults and i'm sure she had hers. She was one of the best things to happen to brian, who knows what would have happened to him without her. Don't take everything we say to heart, it's ok to laugh at posts and have fun. I am a huge brian wilson fan and want to know about his life back when the group started, his marriage and what kind of person he was. Some things written are not very nice but, if they are true then thats what i want to hear. Welcome to the board californiasun.

The most amazing thing about the Marilyn-Brian union is that Carnie and Wendy turned out fairly normal. Carnie can be a bit loopy but nowhere in the class of a Britney or Lohan, or a Brian Wilson...

Of course its Marilyn to thank for their up-bringing.  And of course those good Wilson-Rovell artistic genes.  For some reason, Carnie and Wendy remind me of another set of Wilson sisters:  Ann and Nancy of Heart.  Both good singers, one with a tendency to have weight problems.  And of course both coming from very musical families.

if the media was the way they are today with lohan and brit just think of what they would have done to brian in the 60's and 70's digging through his trash, watching his every move, they would have destroyed him, made him look like a madman.

Cannibis butter.  Ha.

I think that's what Elvis Presley loved.  On a thick loaf of bread with bananas!

That would explain everything!   Paranoia, weight gain, loopyness, .....................

Thank ya very much. :lol

I wonder whether what you have said about Melinda Wilson on these pages counts as slander also?  I'm just sayin'.

Carnie had a talk show in the early 90's it was pretty cool. I watched her on celebrity fit club not long ago. I never see wendy on tv only carnie.
