From our ANI Correspondent London, August 29: Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson has revealed that the success of his rival band, the Beatles, made him extremely jealous. The 65-year-old singer confessed that he experienced severe pangs of jealousy during the heyday of both bands. "They didn't scare me but they made me jealous. Because they got a lot of attention we didn't get, I was so jealous I could have cried," the Daily Express quoted Wilson, as saying. Talking about former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, Brian added that he's not the only one prone to weeping, for, according to him, Macca's response to his performance of his 2004 album Smile was equally emotional. "He cried when he saw Smile," he said. Brian further said that he and McCartney have both inspired and influenced each other. "I'm working on a song called Beatleman. I've written it with Scott Bennett of my band and he has a high level of creativity. In a certain way, I'm addressing it to Paul," he said. Any way, much has been made about the influence that (Dave Dexter, jr's version of) "Rubber Soul" had on Brian and the effect that the release of Sgt Pepper's may have had, but I don't remember hearing a thing about Brian having heard Revolver in the interim. What have I missed? Title: Re: Beatleman Post by: John on August 30, 2007, 10:34:47 AM Good point, he never mentions Revolver, which is arguably the best album of the three. I'd like to know what he thinks of Eleanor Rigby, For No One and Tomorrow Never Knows, in particular.
