Title: Brian's R.F.H.-shows/Art show-combos Post by: rasmus skotte on August 02, 2007, 03:36:34 AM If you're going to London for the september concerts, don't miss 'If Everybody Had An Ocean', the Brian (-inspired)
art exhibition at the Tate Gallery, Porthmeor Beach in St. Ives, Cornwall (until september 23'rd 2007). The show is created by the brilliant Brian Wilson/Beach Boys-afficionado & art expert Alex Farquharson who also edited 'Brian Wilson - an Art Book (2004). If you liked that one, you'll love the exhibition where you get most of the (modern) artworks in 3D. The location of the gallery is wonderful, overlooking a sandy beach and the Atlantic Ocean. There's a great bookshop (check out the great L.P.-sized program for sale) and a rooftop cafe with an open air-section playing Beach Boys-classics over the speakers non-stop! There's a direct 'First Great Western' train from the London Paddington Station to Penzance (5 hours) where you change at the penultimate station: St. Erth for the Bayline local train to St. Ives (20 minutes). You can also choose Brian's 'off-day' (thursday) for the trip and then catch the 'Night Riviera' sleeper train 11:45 p.m. from Paddington, arriving the following morning around 8 o'clock. And then return that night or on friday in time for the next concert! You can do yourself a favor in securing a seat (or a bed) and save a pretty penny by booking online in advance. There are also direct 'Virgin Trains' to Cornwall from other parts of England and Scotland. |
