Title: New demo: "Re Bird" Post by: the captain on July 15, 2007, 07:31:19 PM This is an acoustic-guitar based song I wrote and recorded this afternoon after doing some more serious and focused work. It was quite off the cuff. But as usual, I'd like to hear what you think. The words might not make a lot of sense--they're sort of personal. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it anyway.

Title: Re: New demo: \ Post by: the captain on July 18, 2007, 06:45:37 PM How do you record your guitar? Depends on how much effort I feel like putting into things. I was just rushing through this when I wrote it so I wouldn't forget (which is probably obvious by the multiple screw-ups on guitar), and I think I just VERY haphazardly placed an ASM MK319 aimed near the sound hole. (An audiophile, gear or tech guy or engineer, I am not.) But when I'm trying to record better, I'll often use two of those mics more carefully placed, with one aiming near the 12th fret and the other at the sound hole or nearer the bridge, for a brighter sound. But no matter what I'm doing, I rarely spend more than a couple of minutes setting up mics and getting levels, etc. Even with drums, I like to hurry. I'm just not into it or patient enough. I just listened again and realized I recorded that acoustic in stereo, meaning i did the latter, not the former. Although not so carefully placed.
