Title: The night was so young/The Dark Stuff
Post by: LoriAnneKat on July 03, 2007, 12:29:35 PM
Who sings The night was so young?  It sounds like Brian to me  but I read somewhere it's Carl.    Also, can someone tell me if "The Dark Stuff" by Nick Kent is worth reading....I read that there is a chapter about the BB in it      Thanks     -Lori

Hi, Lori.

It is Carl singing lead on The Night Was So Young.

As far The Dark Stuff: I let someone borrow it several years ago and never got it back!  Don't remember what was covered in there.

The dark stuff a terrible book. It makes Brian much freakier then he was.

The Dark Stuff is a compelling, if uncomfortable read. Whatever your opinion of Nick Kent, he's an excellent writer. He's also solely responsible for turning me on to Brian & The Beach
Boys.

Yup, man's got a lot to answer for.  ;D

How much freakier can he get?   I've been doing so much reading on him.   He really has the most bizarre history.

Kent has certain opinions on stuff and he doesn't always let the evidence get in the way.

Maybe he ought to post here--sounds like he'd fit right in.

I'm never sure what to read or what to believe.   I've been reading alot and here's what I have learned about Brian's hearing loss   -  Brian was born with nerve damage to his ear......Brian was hit in the ear when he was  2.......hit when he was 8......hit in the head with a two by four when he was 16.   where's the truth in all of that?   Maybe it's all true.     I've avoided his own autobiography, which is too bad I was looking forward to it , but people told not to bother.  Maybe I'll read "The Dark Stuff"  keeping your comments in mind :3d

I think a revised edition or reprint of 'The Dark Stuff' came out this year.

He also stated that Al Jardine and Mike were nowhere on Love You because of contractual obligations. :lol

Didn't he also claim BW was with some 15/16 year-old girl when it turned out she was in her 30s?

It was actually Debbie Keil, and a pretty unflattering description of her.  Although if she could pass for 16 when she was in her 30s, maybe it wasn't so unflattering, after all.
