Post by: Andrew G. Doe on June 26, 2007, 07:40:05 AM The live stuff is from the Ed Sullivan shows of 1964 and 1968 - there are also clips from Knebworth 1980, the 1976 It's OK TV special and the 9/24/63 Red Skelton TV show (with David, not Alan). The video content is disappointing: the booklet's not too bad, though. ::)

Title: Re: New Beach Boys DVD? Post by: HeyJude on June 26, 2007, 01:48:50 PM Anybody considering buying this might want to forego Amazon's ridiculous price (35.99) and go with DeepDiscount.com, where right now it is $26.15 (also ridiculuous, but less so). For some reason, Deep Discount is showing the release date as a week later, 7/3. But for something like this where I'd like to get it but will wait longer to get it cheaper, the cheaper site might be the way to go. Also keep in mind that while everything is always shipped for free from Deep Discount, it obviously usually takes a bit longer to arrive. (But sometimes if you pre-order something they will ship it out early to try to have it arrive on release date; this is obviously something that doesn't always work, but Deep Discount is the only place where I've actually pre-ordered someting and got it in the mail before the release date.) I'm willing to wait longer to save almost $10 on this. I'm perplexed as to why the list price on this thing is $40. Usually, these budget-line documentaries with unknowns commenting and use of performance footage under some sort of "critical study" guise are sold on the cheap. I guess they think people might actually believe that this DVD is some sort of comprehensive documentary.
